THE THREEFOLD BEING OF MAN PART I

Past/Future Articles

Have you ever considered the threefold being of man – how that he is to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually.  The Scriptures tell us in Luke 2:52 that our Lord grew in wisdom (mentally), stature (physically), and in favor with God (spiritually).  We grow, but how?  Do we grow abundantly or lean?  God has left it to man who is a free being of choice to make his own choices, thereby determining his own destiny.

First let us consider the physical man.  If we want to grow and excel as a useful human being we must treat our bodies with the utmost care and respect.  I doubt there is anything that gets more care and attention than the physical man.  He gets fed, bathed, powdered, painted, trimmed, combed, manicured, doctored, exercised, you name it he gets it.  He wants for nothing.  This man will one day pass away.

However the Word warns us to BEWARE!!  In Gal. 5:19-21 we read of the works of the flesh that will ensnare and destroy us if we let our desires rule us.  We are told in I Cor. 9:25 to strive to be temperate in all things.  Let us ever be watchful of this evil being who tempts us through our own lust and draws us away from our eternal goal of life.
