"Why Should I Study The Bible?" 3/03/02 Past/Future Articles |

Just as we cannot have some one take the medicine that has been prescribed for us, we cannot have some one study the Bible for us. It is the practice of so many people to rely on the Bible class teacher, or the preacher to do all the Bible studying, but on the great day of Judgement, every one of us will stand alone to be judged on how we have treated the word of the Great Judge. God has rejected those who have rejected His Word, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee…” (Hosea 4:6). God gave the Gentiles over to a reprobate mind because they did not retain God in their knowledge (Rom. 1:28). As God does not speak directly to anyone today as He did in early times. He “Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds” (Heb. 1:2), through His Holy Word, the Bible, and it is by His Word that we will be judged (John 12:48). Therefore, in order for us to know just what is going to be required of us, we must study the Bible, for it is THE Bible and by the Bible only that we will be judged.
