From the early days, men have changed God’s law. When we do this, we will be punished. God’s word is the Bible. God’s word was given by direct revelation and inspiration of the Holy Spirit through Biblical writers, and has been providentially preserved in the scriptures (II Tim. 3:16, II Pet. 1:21). This is God’s word and His will. We must not in any way add, subtract, or modify from His word. Some churches are changing their name. And some are changing worship into entertainment. As usually the case, whatever becomes popular in society filters into the spiritual realm. This is very sad and makes a mockery out of God’s word. Instrumental music, clapping, waving hands, and “clowns” can be fun things at a “circus.” However, our Lord does not sanction this in our worship to Him. Does not our “love” for God manifest itself in obedience to His will (John 14:15)? Is not His will found in His word (John 12:48)? Cain made a change. See what happened in Gen. 4:1-7 and Heb. 11:4. Nadab and Abihu made a change. See what happened in Lev. 10:1-3.
We have some warnings – Do not mishandle His word. Do not add to or take away from the word (Rev. 22:18-19). “...Add thou not unto his words,..” (Prov. 30: 5-6). “Study…,rightly dividing the word…”(II Tim: 2:15). Do not pervert the Gospel (Gal. 1:8-9).
Hope to see you Sunday!
