There are five acts of worship specifically authorized by the Lord.
1. In worship, we sing.
2. In worship, we pray.
3. In worship, we study.
4. In worship, we partake of the Lords supper.
5. In worship, we give.
Let us look at our giving and see what the Bible says on this subject. Giving is a part of worship. Upon the first day of the week let everyone of you lay by him in store, as God has prospered him (I Cor. 16:2). There were no fund raisers. Each member gave of their own free will each first day of the week. The Lord loves a cheerful giver (2 Cor. 9:7). Jesus, our great example, gave His life. The Lord has not set an exact amount which the Christian is to give. He has placed man on his honor, and has only commanded that he give liberally. God tells us that where our treasure is there will our hearts be also. Is our giving regular, cheerful, purposed, as the Bible commands? It must be to please God.
By our giving, we help preach the Gospel. We enable the church to have funds for which to aid the poor, and finance a physical facility (building) in which the church can assemble and worship. Paul said, Present your bodies a living sacrifice. Present it in humble obedience to Gods will.
