ARE WE “BORN AGAIN” CHRISTIANS?
Past/Future Articles

Under the old covenant the birth of a Jew made them a part of the family of God, but under the new covenant, this “new birth” is necessary for one to be brought into a right relationship with God, to become his child, a member of the body of Christ.  What Jesus described in the figurative language of “born again”, the apostles later preached in plain language.  Jesus said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3) and then explained it in verse 5 when he said, “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God”.

When we are baptized as the apostles instructed the believers to do we are buried with Christ by baptism into His death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life.

After the burial of the “old” person we were, by baptism we arise a new or “born again” person to begin a new life as a Christian.
