FEAR

Past/Future Articles

(I Peter 5:8)
Have you heard the lion roar?  No doubt all who are of the age of accountability have heard this sound.  When you heard it, did you recognize the sound, or did it come so subtle you didn’t know from whence it came?  Did it render you ineffective or motivate you to action?

Many, when they hear the roar become afraid, freeze up, failing to move to action and die in their tracks.  Others step out, but are overcome with fear and think if they move to action they may be criticized, or lose their social standing, or not be allowed to have fun, go to the dance, dress as they like, have a social drink with their buddies, etc…; therefore the sound has the desired effect, and they too will die in their sins.

However there are those who hear the lion roar and it motivates them to action.  They ask the question “Whom shall I fear, of whom shall I be afraid?”  The answer comes loud and clear in (Matt. 10:28).  With study of the scriptures we learn what God would have us do and with valor of spirit we obey Him and are motivated to action.  Knowing “Perfect love casteth out fear” (I John 4:18) and “God hath not given us the spirit of fear” (II Tim. 1:7) we press forward.  Then standing firm on the truths of God we will conquer the lion’s roar, thereby casting out all fear, having peace of heart the world does not know.
